The Aftermath of Milton: A Quick Update

That was some scary weather, y'all.

The entire state was lit up like a Christmas Tree 6 hours before landfall.

Hey! Paps here. I just wanted to provide a quick update on my family here in Florida. We are okay. That storm was pretty damn scary, I’m not going to lie. The worst of the wind reached our town around midnight and lasted until about 2pm. Gusts had to be close to 100mph. Luckily, the girls slept through it.

As for me, I wanted to make sure my family was safe, and stayed up until the wind died down. My anxiety was through the roof, and I kept thinking about the worst case scenarios — roof caving in, my neighbor’s tree or our tree falling on the house, windows breaking (we didn’t have any plywood). I’m extremely thankful for my buddy Trace, who stayed on the phone with me for an hour and half during the worst of it so that I could maintain some kind of composure. Extremely difficult to do when your sliding glass door is shaking!

After the storm, my fiance and I assessed the damage. We are counting our blessings that we didn’t have anything more severe than a destroyed backyard fence. In fact, many of our neighbors fared pretty well through this storm. We just got power back about 2 hours ago. Milton also left us some much needed cool, dry weather. My heart goes out to those that are dealing with more damage, flooding, etc. than we are.

Anyways, just wanted to let y’all know that we’re okay. My regular, weekly articles will resume this coming week.

Have a great weekend,

Paps.
