The Only Constant is Change
How We Can Better Prepare Ourselves for What's Next

Last Saturday, I moved out of my studio space. For the last 5 years, it’s served me well. I recorded several of my friends, put out some good music, and jammed with those friends late into the night on Friday nights. But, as we all know, life starts getting in the way. Those late nights and sessions started to dwindle, my dear friend Brandon’s Funko Pop Consignment business, Venture Authentics, started to take off, and I was focusing more on SPAP Technology, my Web & Media business.
Additionally, I was hardly using the space for it’s intended purpose. Since the space is originally Brandon’s, we talked and agreed that it was time to repurpose and venture forward, pun intended.
As I venture further into my 3rd decade on this planet, time further solidifies the truth that the only constant is change. As human’s, we are the most adaptable creatures on the planet, and we need to remember that.
Think about all the changes in tech alone: new LLM’s every week it seems, a new frontend framework on the same schedule, processors with lightspeed performance. We are living in wild times, y’all!
Here’s the facts: we are evolutionary beings, and Darwinism favors the adaptable. Not to toot my own horn, but I think that is one of my best qualities is the ability and willingness to evolve as a person. Although, this quality also doesn’t allow me to remain complacent, so I suppose it’s a double edged sword, but I digress.
So how do we keep from being behind the 8 ball of natural selection?
Old Dogs CAN Learn New Tricks
In other words, be willing to learn! We have the most information accessible to us in comparison to any civilization that has existed on this planet, and the least amount of information we will see in our lifetime. That’s a crazy thought. It baffles me that people allow limiting beliefs to manifest ignorance in their lives. You don’t have to be a thought leader on subject matter. Information can be taught, but the willingness to learn cannot.
Carpe Diem
I’m reading Rich Dad, Poor Dad right now, and in the first chapter, the “Rich Dad” tells the author early on to be decisive, because opportunities come and go quickly. Seize them and capitalize on the moment. Do not let anxiety & fear shackle you from being the best version of yourself.
Gratitude for Failure
Failure is inevitable, but also a sign of growth. Be grateful for the experience that it gave you, learn from it, and apply that to the next experience.
For example, if you’ve been reading this newsletter long enough, you know my constant battle about chasing a career in audio. I took a hard look in the mirror and came to the understanding that I was not willing to make the sacrifices necessary to do this full time. There were several other doors opening in my life, and I also realized that there are no shortcuts to bypass hard work and putting yourself out there. I’m taking that experience with me into SPAP, and can already see the results.
I’m grateful failure, because it opens the door to success down the line, so long as you learn from it.
You Can’t Always Get What You Want…
…But if you try sometimes, well, you might find you get what you need.
Simple as that.
As this chapter closes on my life, a new one is opening. I’m more in tune with myself creatively than I have been in a long time, and feel excited for these new doors opening in my life. I’m grateful for the memories and experiences that the storage unit brought me, and so thankful for the people that it brought into my life that continue to impact me today.
Anyways, that’s all for today. I want to connect with you about your experiences! Reply or leave a comment and tell me about something awesome that is happening in your life, or a recent failure that you learned from.
Opportunity is Knocking,
Paps.
