As if Caleb Shomo couldn’t write a catchier chorus, here we are in 2024 with this certified banger. The vocal production on this song is top notch, with beautiful, in-your face harmony layers to compliment Caleb’s voice. My man said “I need your attention”, and boy did he get mine. 😏

Bilmuri - AMERICAN MOTOR SPORTS

 🧻 🐖🇺🇸🫡 Only real hog-cranking, non-wiping American patriots will appreciate this one.

I’ve been a fan of Johnny Franck since ‘Attack! Attack!’. Bilmuri is the perfect culmination of genre-bending goodness, heartfelt (and downright depressing at times) lyrics, and the dankest memes known to human-kind. If you like a little bit of pop country mixed with your chugs, check out this album. If not for him, do it for your country.

Peak Design Slide Strap

I wanted a new strap for my cameras. As a big guy, I find it difficult to find comfortable straps that allow me to move my camera easily. I’m also clumsy as shit, and the peak design strap lock system intrigues me.

I’ve been wanting to get out and shoot more photo and video. Yes, I know gear is not the answer, but hey, sometimes you just gotta treat yourself.

Tourpass

If you missed it last week, I’m working on an app called Tourpass. This week, I made big progress on the first version of the dashboard UI & completed user authentication. It doesn’t look like much now, but I’m very stoked on where this is going.

Freelance Stuff

Just like in my previous article about marketing for bands and creatives, I’m eating my own cooking.

👉 I’ve set up some email campaigns for my business to help me drive more engagement. With freelance, most of my email communications are personal, but I do have a welcome campaign that aims to build value to potential clients with a couple of free materials and information.

👉 My freelance website is about to get a huge upgrade, including new look and feel and a content management system. I don’t feel the current iteration (albeit not fully complete) gives the user the experience I was going for, nor do I like my design choices. So expect an update, most likely by early next week. I’m going to be using Contentful CMS for simplicity on my end, and the website is built with Astro.js with a few React components sprinkled throughout. Astro is amazing. If you’re a dev, I highly, highly recommend checking it out.

👉 Notion. My notion dashboard is getting an upgrade too thanks to this video from Anna Hickman on Youtube. I loved her idea about a client portal, and think this will be a big help for me on projects moving forward.
