Riffs
STIGMA - Wage War
I revisited this record a couple of days ago for some songwriting inspiration. The Ocala natives went a different direction on this album, leaning more into the industrial, modern sound from their song “Manic” off of their last album.
I gotta be honest, I didn’t really care for this new sound when it was first released; however, it has grown on me and is one of the more interesting metalcore records I’ve listened to this year.
Deep in the Trouble - Goodbye June
My Uncle Bob and I have a chat thread that we use to send music back and forth. This was one of his finds. Goodbye June is a rock outfit from Nashville, and listening to these guys is like going into a time machine, and bringing some of that sweet, sweet rock n roll back to the 2020’s, but refreshed with some modern flair.
These guys truly capture the essence of rock n roll on this cut. They are extremely talented musicians and I hope to see this band continue to grow.
If you’re looking for that classic vibe, but also want something truly unique and original, this is the record for you.
Cold Beer & Country Music - Zach Top
Let’s kick it old school for a second. Zach Top is bringing back some of that classic vibe that long time country music fans love. Some even say he’s saving country music. While I am in the camp that likes to see country evolve, it’s nice to see some of those roots still alive and thriving.
With songs like ‘Sounds Like the Radio’ or ‘Beer for Breakfast’, you could spin this record and immediately follow up with some Alan Jackson or Brooks & Dunn to keep the vibes going.
Code
Let’s talk about something scary real quick…I’m learning C++
Yes. Every web developers scariest, most haunting syntax: C++ (for the non-nerds, this is pronounced C plus-plus.)
Why would I ever do such a thing?
Well, C++ is used to build audio plugins, and that is exactly what I intend to do. As a music producer, I work with a variety of audio plugins in my mixes, and I’ve had a couple of ideas brewing in my head, but lack the skills in plugin dev to bring them to life. Hopefully throughout this side-quest, I can pick up the skills necessary to realize these ideas. Plus, I’m very passionate about the pro audio community, as well as the developer community, and C++ is another tool in the toolbox that helps bring more value and expand my offerings from my business.
By the way — If you’re a business owner, you know how important it is to have a tech stack that takes control of the mundane day-to-day tasks. I help entrepreneurs simplify and scale their tech stacks by way of custom web and mobile solutions. Set up a call with me by replying to this email or clicking here.
