Weekly Pull Request: March 14th, 2025
I've been slacking...
Welcome to the Weekly Pull Request, a place where I share cool music, tech, and things I’ve been working on throughout the week.
If you’re new here:

Emergence - Sleep Token
There are few bands that have had a “Chokehold” 😏 on me the first time I listened to them. Black Label Society/Zakk Wylde was the first, Pantera was the second, Rush was the third, and in 2018, Sleep Token, thanks to my buddy and vocalist of Set//Adrift, Josh.
Following up “Take Me Back To Eden”, Sleep Token released yet another banger and I’m obsessed. I cannot wait for this album to drop. The song writing from this band is unlike anything in the industry. Highly, highly recommend.
May can’t come soon enough.
Tsunami Sea - Spiritbox
Meanwhile, on this side of the pond, Spiritbox dropped this masterpiece on us. Tsunami Sea is a huge buff to the Canadian metalcore act’s songwriting skill. This album has everything from heavy ass-beaters to modern metalcore riffage, as well as some more intimate composition choices. This is a truly dynamic album, and is a must listen in my opinion.
Code
Vibe Coding
A new trend is taking the tech industry by storm. Vibe Coding, coined by Andrej Karpathy, is… well, I’ll let him explain it:
There's a new kind of coding I call "vibe coding", where you fully give in to the vibes, embrace exponentials, and forget that the code even exists. It's possible because the LLMs (e.g. Cursor Composer w Sonnet) are getting too good. Also I just talk to Composer with SuperWhisper… x.com/i/web/status/1…

At first, this term made me cringe, but I’ve been slowly giving into the vibes. I think it’s more of the fact that it’s a tech bro term being used by founders that, in my opinion, attempts to devalue what engineers like me have dedicated thousands of hours to.
Just kick back in your cozy slippers, grab a snack, snuggle up on the couch and just vibe your way to your next million dollar idea.
Can’t wait to start vibe debugging…. 🙃

However, I do see some merit to this. As a new founder myself, I understand the importance of trying to get a proof of concept running quickly. I do believe that there needs to be understanding that as the POC scales, skilled engineers will always be needed to maintain and push new features. Simply put, LLM’s struggle with big codebases. This will get exponentially better over time, but I don’t think that simply vibe coding will be enough to maintain and ship good, performant software at scale.
Anyways, I’ll link Primeagen’s reaction video to a Y Collective chat, where 4 founders were talking about vibe coding. I think that he gives a balanced take here from an experienced engineer’s perspective.
That’s all for this week’s pull request. Let’s go ahead and merge this to main. I hope you have an amazing weekend!
